Simple Voice Chat Guide for Minecraft

Welcome to our server's voice chat setup! We're using the Simple Voice Chat mod for seamless proximity-based voice communication—it's way more fun and natural than typing. This guide will walk you through installation, setup, and troubleshooting. Let's get you chatting!

Step 1: Install the Mod

  1. Download Simple Voice Chat from CurseForge. You need to download version 2.5.35 Release
  2. Ensure the mod version matches your server's Minecraft version.
  3. Use the same mod loader as your setup (Fabric, Forge, Quilt, or NeoForge).
  4. Add the downloaded .jar file to your Minecraft mods folder.
For TLauncher Users:
  • Choose your mod loader (Fabric, Forge, Quilt, or NeoForge) that's compatible with your Minecraft version.
  • Download from CurseForge or Modrinth.
  • Select the version matching your Minecraft platform.
  • Move the .jar file to your TLauncher mods folder (usually in the TLauncher installation directory).

Example version: Simple Voice Chat 1.21.8-2.5.35 (Fabric).

Step 2: Join the Server

  1. Launch Minecraft with the newly installed mod.
  2. Connect to the server as usual.
  3. If everything's set up correctly, you'll see small microphone and headphones icons on your screen.

Step 3: Controls

Access and customize keys in Options → Controls → Key Binds. Defaults are:

  • Caps Lock: Push-to-Talk
  • M: Mute/Unmute
  • N: Toggle voice chat
  • V: Voice chat menu
  • G: Group chat menu

Step 4: Test Your Microphone

  1. Press V to open the voice chat menu.
  2. Select the microphone and speakers tabs.
  3. Speak into your mic—watch for the mic icon to light up (indicating it's detecting input).

Step 5: Set Up Group Chats

For private chats (e.g., with teams, bases, or friends):

  1. Press G to open the group chat menu.
  2. Create a new group or join an existing one for focused conversations.

Troubleshooting

If something's not working, try these fixes:

Issue Solution
Can't hear other players? Adjust volume sliders in the V menu.
Mic not detected? Grant Minecraft/Java microphone permissions in your system settings (e.g., Windows Privacy > Microphone).
Icons not showing? Double-check mod installation and version compatibility. Restart Minecraft.
Still stuck? Reach out to staff for help—we're here to assist!

That's it! Once you're in, proximity chat will make exploring and building with others feel alive. Happy gaming! ?
