How to Get Custom Enchants: The Easy Way
With your setup using VANILLA distribution mode, getting these enchants is super straightforward since it piggybacks on Minecraft’s normal enchanting system. You can snag custom enchants the same way you’d grab vanilla ones, but with a chance for the cool ones Enchants listed in the doc (minus the disabled ones like Cutter, Temper, Dragonfire Arrows, and Lingering). Here’s how to do it:
- Enchanting Table (Your Go-To Spot)
- What You Need: An enchanting table, some lapis lazuli, and a bunch of XP levels.
- How It Works: Toss your gear (like a sword, bow, or pickaxe) on the enchanting table, pop in some lapis, and pick an enchant option. Your config allows up to 5 enchants per item (Item_Enchantments_Limit: 5), and there’s a 75% chance of getting custom enchants (Generation_Chance: 75.0).
- Pro Tip: Higher XP levels and bookshelves around your table boost your chances for rare enchants like Bomber or Treefeller (check the weights—Common has a 10 weight, Very Rare only 1, so mythic ones are tough to get!).
- Vibe Check: Enchant armor, weapons, tools, or fishing rods. Axes can get sword enchants, and crossbows can get bow enchants (Sword_Enchants_To_Axes: true, Bow_Enchants_To_Crossbows: true).
- Villager Trades (Book Hunting)
- What You Need: Emeralds and a librarian villager.
- How It Works: Trade with librarians to get enchanted books. Your config says books from villagers will have only 1 enchant (Single_Enchant_In_Villager_Books: true) but a 60% chance of including a custom one (Generation_Chance: 60.0). You can get up to 4 enchants max on these books. Then, slap the book on your gear with an anvil.
- Pro Tip: Keep trading to cycle villager offers until you spot a banger like Vampire or Replanter.
- Vibe Check: Great for getting specific enchants without burning tons of XP.
- Fishing (Reel in the Goods)
- What You Need: A fishing rod and some water.
- How It Works: Cast your rod and fish for treasure. There’s a 45% chance of getting enchanted books or gear with up to 4 enchants (Generation_Chance: 45.0, Max_Enchantments: 4). You might pull up something dope like River Master or Double Catch.
- Pro Tip: Use a fishing rod with Luck of the Sea to boost treasure chances.
- Vibe Check: Chill way to score enchants while AFK fishing.
- Loot Chests (Treasure Hunt)
- What You Need: Just explore! Think dungeons, mineshafts, or ancient cities.
- How It Works: Loot chests have an 80% chance of spawning gear or books with custom enchants (Generation_Chance: 80.0), with up to 4 enchants possible. You could find a pickaxe with Veinminer or a sword with Wither.
- Pro Tip: Raid structures like bastions or end cities for the best loot.
- Vibe Check: Perfect for adventurers who love exploring.
- Mob Drops (Slay for Pay)
- What You Need: A weapon and some mobs to clap.
- How It Works: Mobs like zombies or skeletons can spawn with enchanted gear, with a 35% chance of custom enchants (Generation_Chance: 35.0) and up to 4 enchants on their stuff. Kill ‘em and yoink their gear, maybe scoring something like Ice Shield on armor.
- Pro Tip: Hunt in high-difficulty areas for better gear drops.
- Vibe Check: Awesome for grinding mobs in a spawner or fortress.
Things to Watch Out For
- Disabled Enchants: You can’t get Cutter, Temper, Dragonfire Arrows, or Lingering ‘cause they’re turned off in your config. Also, Ice Aspect is disabled in “your_world_name” and “another_world,” so it won’t work there.
- Rarity Vibes: Enchants are split into Common (weight 10, easiest to get), Uncommon (weight 5), Rare (weight 2), and Very Rare (weight 1, super hard). Stuff like Sniper (weight 10) pops up more than Ghast (weight 1).
- Anvil Action: Got an enchanted book? Use an anvil to apply it to your gear. Combine books or gear to stack enchants, but you’re capped at 5 per item.
- No Elytra Love: Chestplate enchants like Regrowth or Kamikadze won’t work on elytras (Chestplate_Enchants_To_Elytra: false).
- World Limits: If you’re in a world listed under “ByWorld” (like “your_world_name”), some enchants won’t work, even if you have them.
Quick Tips to Max Your Enchant Game
- Grind XP: Kill mobs, mine quartz, or smelt stuff to rack up levels for the enchanting table.
- Bookshelf Boost: Surround your enchanting table with 15 bookshelves for the best enchant odds.
- Mix and Match: Use an anvil to combine enchanted books with your gear for the perfect setup.
- Hunt Rare Loot: Check out rare structures like woodland mansions for high-tier loot with custom enchants.
- Fish Smart: Enchant your rod with River Master or Double Catch to make fishing even better.
